Sobering Facilities

Purpose

Purpose

Registered sobering facilities provide acutely intoxicated people with a safe place to stay while the chemical effects of the intoxicants subside to the point at which they are safely able to leave the facility under their own volition.

  • Sobering facilities offer a variety of treatment options and referrals to help individuals transition and engage in a recovery program or the community.
  • These facilities are also resource centers, providing information on a variety of social service options.
Services of this type are focused on safety and may last anywhere from four to 48 hours.
