Registered sobering facilities provide acutely intoxicated people with a safe place to stay while the chemical effects of the intoxicants subside to the point at which they are safely able to leave the facility under their own volition.
Oregon Revised Statute 430.262 describes the requirements for registering as a sobering facility.
