Mark your calendar and note that the Health Licensing Office (and all State of Oregon agencies) will be closed on the following days:
The Board of Denture Technology, under the Health Licensing Office, has filed proposed rules with the Oregon Secretary of State. The proposed rule language would align delinquency fee language with statutory requirements by changing the term from “expired" to “inactive". Under ORS 676.562 expired is defined as an authorization that has been “not current" for more than three years and inactive is defined as an authorization that has been “not current" for three years or less. In terms of OAR 331-440-0000(2)(e), the term should be inactive rather than expired. An authorization holder in expired status is unable to renew, they must reapply for the authorization.
In the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Health Licensing Office suspended continuing education rules that required in-person education and put in place Oregon Administrative Rule (OAR) 331-030-0036, which outlined remote continuing education through online courses, remote access, webinars or self-study. When the Governor lifts the state of emergency on April 1, 2022, the suspended rules reactivate, but OAR 331-030-0036 will allow authorization holders (licensees, certification or registration holders) to keep obtaining remote CE for 60 days after that date, until May 31, 2022.
The Oregon Board of Denture Technology (Board), overseen by the Health Licensing Office, is recruiting for the following vacant board member positions:
The Health Licensing Office (HLO) is seeking licensed denture technologists to serve as subject matter experts (SMEs) for complaint investigations. A SME is an independent contractor who assists in investigations of and cases against Oregon licensed denturists. SMEs may be called upon to assist the HLO in various ways, such as: examining complainants to determine if the prosthetic dental appliances were made appropriately and within community standards, working with a HLO investigator when investigating licensees, providing opinions about community standards, and competently testifying during hearings.
