The 2026 monitoring season has started.

The Oregon Beach Monitoring Program (OBMP) monitors Oregon beaches for harmful bacteria in the north, mid and south coast. 

Monitoring happens during the season when Oregon beaches are most visited (mid-May to mid-September), unless actions by state and local authorities restrict public beach access.  

Advisories are only issued for beaches that are actively monitored during the May-September sampling window. There may be similar issues at other beaches.
