Become an Oregon Health Authority Approved THW Training Program

Organizations or individuals interested in providing trainings or continuing education to Traditional Health Workers can apply for OHA approval. 

Effective August 2025, OHA will implement a quarterly review of training application materials through the TEMPS Subcommittee quarterly meetings. The agency will no longer be reviewing curricula monthly. All training organizations seeking approval from the agency should plan to submit their curricula for both foundational training, CEUs, and renewal in timely manner to meet the review standard. Step One:
Ensure all curriculum meets all criteria. Please review the rubric, curriculum rules, and application in depth. Below are helpful resources:

Step Two:
Complete appropriate application

• Traditional Health Worker Training Program Initial and Renewal Application
  
• Continuing Education Units CEU Application
  

Step Three:
Email materials and application to: "ATTN: THW Program" at THW.Program@odhsoha.oregon.gov. If the files are too large, you may need to send in a zip file or you can email materials or a USB drive to 421 SW Oak Ste. 750, Portland, OR 97204.

Step Four:
The TEMPS Subcommittee will review curriculum during their quarterly meetings. Below is their upcoming review schedule:

• February 5, 2026 - FULL
  
• May 28, 2026
  
• August 6, 2026
  
• November 5, 2026
  

Once approved, OHA will include the information on the THW approved training list or continuing education listings. Training Programs are also expected to complete quarterly reports.
