Network of Networks Definitions Group
In 2018 - 2019, HITOC was developing a set of strategies to connect and coordinate the various exchange efforts in Oregon through an initiative called the Network of Networks. This model envisioned collaborative work around establishing common rules of the road, developing requisite technical and legal frameworks, and developing and/or adopting enabling infrastructure to support cross-network exchange. The Network of Networks was a key part of HITOC's strategy to promote statewide health information exchange (HIE), as described in HITOC's 2017-2020 Strategic Plan (see pages 29-33).
HITOC chartered a Network of Networks Technical Definitions Group and Advisory Group to begin exploratory work on the Network of Networks concept. The Technical Definitions Group met in 2018 to 2019. It advised OHA staff in developing foundational concepts and definitions, informed by Oregon's HIE environment, to support the Advisory Group's work. It also provided ongoing technical advice to the Advisory Group.
