Oregon Program Evaluation
Each federally approved state coastal management program is periodically reviewed by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) under Section 312 of the federal Coastal Zone Management Act. NOAA representatives will be in Oregon May 24-26, 2016 to evaluate the performance of the Oregon Coastal Management Program. The last Oregon 312 evaluation was in 2006. For Oregon, NOAA is focusing on three target areas, administration, state-local government partnerships and estuary management plan updates.
As part of the 312 review, NOAA will hold a public meeting at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 24 at the Newport Best Western Hotel, Cove Room, at 3019 North Coast Highway, Newport, Oregon 97365. The purpose of the meeting is to receive public comments regarding the operation and implementation of the Oregon Coastal Management Program.
Written comments are encouraged, and participation at the public meeting is not required for submission. Written comments should be sent to Carrie Hall NOAA/NOS/OCM, 1305 East-West Highway, N/OCM1, Silver Spring, MD 20910, or via e-mail to Carrie.Hall@noaa.gov no later than Friday June 10, 2016.
