Funding for your septic system

Affordable Septic System Loan Program

DEQ received funding from the Oregon legislature to support loans for septic system repair and replacement. Learn more at the Septic System Loans for Homeowners and Small Businesses web page.

Funding for septic system financial aid projects

DEQ was allocated $15 Million from the 2021 Oregon legislature to provide grants to organizations to administer financial aid programs for septic system repairs and replacements. DEQ will not be issuing grants directly to property owners. See our web page for more information for the Onsite Septic Financial Aid Program and the current grant cycles.

View our fact sheet, Onsite Septic Resources for Oregon Homeowners for additional resources for homeowners, including those impacted by natural disasters.

Wildfire and septic systems

Many homes were damaged or lost in the Oregon wildfires of September 2020. Septic systems are not immune to   wildfire damage.

Visit our web page, After the 2020 Wildfires for information on wildfire damage to septic systems.

One thing to keep in mind is septic system materials, such as plastic, steel and concrete, are susceptible to damage by the extreme heat generated in a fire and care should be taken approaching a septic tank after the wildfire.

Site allows users to submit some onsite applications online

The Oregon e-Permitting System allows users to create an account to submit and track applications and reports concerning septic permits. Users can use a credit card to pay application, reporting and other onsite fees. Applicants can also receive their permit online.

A help desk is available to anyone who has questions. Email oregonepermitting@oregon.gov or call 503-373-7396 or 1-800-442-7457 for assistance.
