Water Resources

Mist covered trees reflect into a body of water. The Oregon Department of Transportation's Water Resources Program is responsible for assessing the impacts transportation projects have on water quality and hydrology, as well as developing measures that help protect Oregon’s rivers, lakes and wetlands from those adverse effects.
The Geo-Environmental Section focuses on policy and working with resource and regulatory agencies to streamline permitting while improving resource protection and technical expertise.
Water Resources staff work closely with biologists, erosion control specialists, and hydraulic engineers to find the best solutions for the problems presented by stormwater and highway runoff.
