Monitoring Beach Water Quality

The Oregon Beach Monitoring Program (OBMP) is a partnership between the Oregon Health Authority (OHA) and the Oregon Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ). We monitor the water along Oregon's 360 miles of coastline for fecal bacteria, called enterococcus. This happens every year from May to September. We put out health advisories to keep beach visitors informed when high levels of bacteria are found.
