Guideline 17: Infection Control for Home Visits

Purpose
To provide home visitors with basic infection control recommendations to keep clients, their families, and staff safe while providing services in the home.  

Process

Infection control guidelines specific to family and child health home visiting services are not readily available. Most infection control policies focus on hospital care and long-term care, and some extend into home health services. The CDC has developed Core Infection Control Practices for Safe Health Care Delivery in All Settings. This document is the basis for the Oregon nurse home visiting infection control process outline below (Table 1).
