Breast and Cervical Cancer Treatment Program

Oregon Health Plan (OHP) Treatment Coverage for People Who Need It

If your provider told you that you need treatment for breast cancer or cervical cancer, but you don't have health coverage, there is help. You may be eligible for full Oregon Health Plan (OHP) or Citizenship Waived Medical (CWM) benefits through the Breast and Cervical Cancer Treatment Program (BCCTP).

  • Any provider who screens for breast or cervical cancer can refer you to the program.
  • Ask your provider about referring you. They will need to send a completed BCCTP application to OHP.
  • OHP usually processes BCCTP applications by the next business day.
  • Both OHP and CWM cover cancer treatment and reproductive health care.
If you qualify, your BCCTP coverage begins the day your provider made your breast or cervical cancer diagnosis.

​No. We encourage anyone with a diagnosis of breast or cervical cancer to apply. The program does not look at gender identity or expression. ​

​BCCTP is available through the OHP Plus and CWM benefit packages.​ Both OHP Plus and CWM cover cancer treatment.​

​Ask your health care provider for help. Any provider who screens for breast or cervical cancer can refer patients. They do this by faxing a completed BCCTP application​ to OHP.

  • You and your provider will need to complete the application.
  • You will enter your personal information.
  • Your provider will add information about your cancer diagnosis.
  • You will both need to sign the form.
  • By signing the form, your provider affirms that you qualify for BCCTP coverage.​


​Through BCCTP, OHP or CWM will pay for treatment from the date of the diagnosis.

OHP or CWM may also pay for outstanding medical bills related to the diagnosis. This happens if your provider says you would have qualified for BCCTP at the time those bills were due.

After OHP approves your BCCTP coverage, you will get a full OHP application in the mail. This is to collect more information and see if you qualify for ongoing OHP.

If you do not qualify for other OHP or other programs:

  • Each year, you will get a renewal notice to see if you still qualify for BCCTP.
  • You and your provider will need to complete the form included with this notice.
