Disease Information

COVID‑19 is a contagious respiratory illness caused by the SARS‑CoV‑2 virus, spreading mainly through droplets when infected people breathe, talk, cough, or sneeze, and sometimes via contaminated surfaces. Symptoms range from mild (fever, cough, sore throat, fatigue, loss of taste or smell) to severe illness in older adults or those with underlying health conditions. Prevention includes vaccination, wearing masks indoors, physical distancing, and good hand hygiene.
