Pesticide exposure at work is a serious concern. It can happen in multiple ways, including:
- Breathing in a pesticide
- Getting it on your skin
- Swallowing a pesticide
OHA's Pesticide Exposure Safety & Tracking (PEST) Program
The
PEST program tracks and investigates acute pesticide illness or injury in Oregon. Acute cases are those that happen suddenly, rather than over time (chronic). Suspected or confirmed cases of pesticide poisoning in humans are reported to this program, as required by state rules (OAR 333‑017‑0000 to 333‑018‑0015 and OAR 333‑019‑0000).
Visit the
PEST program's website for more information and resources about pesticide poisoning at work.
