Land Acquisition Grants


The Oregon Constitution specifies that OWEB may fund projects involving the purchase of interests in land from willing sellers for the purpose of maintaining or restoring watersheds and habitat for native fish or wildlife.

Entities able to hold OWEB-funded interests in land, as long as the entity continues to use the land for the purposes specified in the constitution:

  • Local, state, and federal agencies
  • Tribes
  • Not-for-profit land conservation organizations and trusts
  • Oregon institutions of higher education
  • Independent not-for-profit institutions of higher education or political subdivisions of the state

Program Materials

Applicants are required to use the current version of the land acquisition grant program materials, posted below.


Land acquisition grant applications are due August 29, 2024 by 4:00 pm. A pre-application consultation is required.​ ​Contact Miriam Forney, Land Acquisitions Coordinator, at (971) 345-7023 or​ to schedule a consultation.​ Consultations will be held June 3, 2024 – July 29, 2024. ​Applicants are encouraged to schedule a consultation early.

Grant applications must be submitted in OWEB's Online Grant Management System (OGMS). The land acquisition application will be available in OGMS beginning July 16, 2024. An application template is available now in OGMS.

Applications submitted for the fall 2024 land acquisition grant offering will be considered for funding at the April 2025 OWEB board meeting.

The matching funds requirement for this grant offering is 25%.
