About our Executive Director, Rachel Alpert: 

Rachel Alpert is the Executive Director of the Oregon Teacher Standards and Practices Commission. She began her career as a second-grade teacher before serving as a special education teacher, principal, curriculum director, human resources director, and assistant superintendent. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy from UCLA, a Master of Arts in Teaching from Oregon State University, and is currently pursuing her doctoral degree at the University of Oregon. A lifelong educator and advocate for public education, she is dedicated to elevating the profession of teaching and fostering collaborative cross-agency partnerships that bring coherence to the initiative-rich landscape of education. Rachel believes deeply in the transformative power of public education and works to ensure that all Oregon students have access to a rigorous, well-rounded, and rewarding educational experience.
