Civil Rights and Ethics Course

In accordance with ORS 342.123, applicants for initial licensure are required to demonstrate knowledge of Civil Rights laws and Professional Ethics standards. Many applicants meet this requirement through coursework in their educator preparation programs or through available classes at community college. For those who do not meet the requirement through existing programming, TSPC has created the following modules to allow license applicants to meet the Civil Rights and Professional Ethics knowledge requirement.

1. Create a Workday Account

Everyone completing the Civil Rights modules needs to have a Workday account. You may have a Workday account already if you have ever taken continuing development through the State (e.g. Oregon Department of Education). If you do not have a Workday account, or do not know if you do, Please follow the Extended Enterprise Learner Account creation process.

2. Access the Modules

Using the link below, open the Civil Rights course webpage. You will need to log into the Workday account that you created above in order to access the course. There are 5 separate lessons within this course, and you will need to achieve 70% on the quiz at the end of each module in order to be considered proficient. You have unlimited opportunities to attempt each quiz.

3. Print a Certificate of Completion

Once you complete all 5 separate lessons and have achieved 70% on each lesson's quiz, you will be eligible for a Workday Certificate of Completion. You will need to generate and download a copy of the Certificate of Completion to serve as evidence for your license application. In order to generate a copy of your Certificate of Completion, please follow the directions linked below.

4. Upload Your Certificate to eLicensing

Once you have downloaded a copy of your Certificate of Completion, you will need to upload it as part of your eLicensing application. If you need assistance uploading your certificate to eLicensing, see the walkthrough linked below. Note: teacher candidates may be required to share their Certificate of Completion with their program. Be sure to check with your program advisor.
