Provides driving privilege without proof of legal presence in the U.S.​

Senate Bill 833 was signed into law May 1, 2013 and takes effect January 1, 2014. It allows the Oregon DMV to issue a Driver Card to people who can comply with all of the requirements for a driving privilege except providing proof of legal presence in the United States.

DMV office hours have been cut by Oregon lawmakers to reduce costs. As of July 2, 2012 the last two DMV offices that were open on Saturdays were moved to a Monday thru Friday schedule. Some DMV offices have non-standard hours or are only open on certain days of the week. Please check the office Web pages before heading out to be sure that they are open on the day and time that you want to visit.

Since January 30, 2012, Oregon DMV has required commercial truck and bus drivers to submit a photocopy of their medical certificate to continue holding a commercial driver license. The new requirement is part of federal safety regulations aimed at making sure CDL holders are medically fit to operate commercial vehicles.

All applicants for driver licenses, instruction permits and ID cards (including renewals and replacements) must present proof of their full legal name and U.S. citizenship or lawful presence in the United States. It can take weeks to obtain some of the documents you'll need to meet the new laws, so don't wait until your license or ID card expires.
