Public Comment Process

General Information:

Most comments submitted through HERC's form will be posted on the website. You will have the option to request your comment are not. The comments are subject to public meeting requests as required by law. 

Written comments submitted to HERC or VbBS will be shared with both committees.​

Advance Materials Written Comments: 

​Two of the Commission subcommittees post Advance Materials, offering a preview six weeks before the meeting where the topics are discussed. Six weeks before a scheduled subcommittee meeting, draft meeting materials are posted and are open for comment for two weeks. 

Advance materials written comments must be received by the announced closing date. Each comment is reviewed by staff and included in the final meeting materials.

Final Materials Written Comments:

After a review the of the advance material comments, staff recommendations may change.​ Final materials are posted one-week before the meeting.  Please review the final  posted materials and submit comments by Noon, two days before the meeting. 

Comments Posted on Website:

Comments submitted will be posted on our website and given to members according to this policy and are subject to Oregon public records law. We recommend careful consideration when disclosing identifiable personal and health information about you or another person. If you wish the information to remain more private, you can ask that it not be posted publicly, but it still might end up being released due to public records law.

​All public meetings are recorded and posted to our website. Please consider this as you plan your comments, especially when sharing personal or medical information about yourself or another person.

Consider Adding Written Comment

In the rare event that a large number of people register to give verbal comment, not everyone who registers will get a chance to testify; for that reason we encourage those who register to provide a ​written comment.​

Please show respect to others present (such as using everyone's preferred name and pronouns).
