Interpersonal Antibiotic Stewardship

This training introduces the problem of over-use of antibiotics and antibiotic resistance, the need for antibiotic stewardship programs and presents an adapted version of motivational interviewing to apply to antibiotic stewardship interactions.

CME or CE Credit Statement: Participants who complete the evaluation form and have a score of 75% or higher on the quiz will receive 0.5 CE credits through the Oregon Board of Pharmacy.

Target Audience: Oregon pharmacists and pharmacy technicians

Learning Objectives:

After completing this activity, participants will be able to:

  • Understand the problem of over-use of antibiotics and antibiotic resistance
  • Describe the need for antibiotic stewardship programs (ASPs)
  • Apply adapted motivational interviewing processes, skills and techniques to ASP interactions
