2017 Results by Gender - 8th Grade

Changes to gender question

In response to youth comments regarding other topics that should be included in the OHT Survey, the gender question was expanded in the 2017 OHT Survey to include multiple options for those who identify as neither exclusively male nor female.

The OHT Survey Workgroup partnered with universities, community organizations, and members of LGBTQ communities to select indicators that would best measure gender identity among youth in Oregon. Oregon is one of the first states in the nation to adopt such comprehensive and inclusive measures on a youth survey to ensure every youth has the opportunity to have their identities counted.

The 2017 8th and 11th grade results are presented by male, female and non-binary/GNC (gender nonconforming, which includes those who identify as transgender, gender nonconforming, genderqueer, gender fluid, intersex/intergender, or something else). We recognize these data are complex and do not necessarily reflect or describe the full identifers of the population.
