Request Process
A 2024 SHS public use dataset is currently available. The SHS Data Portal is public use data that has a cross-tabulation function for additional analysis. Please refer to the data portal prior to submitting a data request.
Data Portal
For data use or support beyond what is available in the Data Portal you may:
1. Submit a dataset request to receive a SHS public use dataset; or
2. Submit a data assistance request to receive customized SHS data support.
Dataset Requests
To request SHS public use datasets, please complete the online Data Use Form. Be sure to give a detailed description of how the data will be used and include the names and email addresses of the Principal Investigator (PI) and all data users who will have access to the dataset. Also include your contact information so that we can clarify your request if necessary. Please include a copy of your IRB approval as well.
Due to confidentiality, SHS public use datasets exclude identifiers below the county level (district ID, school ID, zip code), as well as height and weight variables (BMI is included).
Due to our small staff size and volume of data requests, it may take up to six to eight weeks to fulfill requests for survey data.
Data Assistance Requests
To request support in using or interpreting SHS results, please complete the online
Data Assistance Form. This form is intended for those seeking analyses or visualizations using SHS data, such as summaries, charts, reports, or presentations tailored to your needs. If you need access to SHS data, please use the Data Use Form above.
Data Processing Fee May Apply
Depending upon your request, a data processing fee of $70 per hour may apply. Requestors will be notified of any fees that must be paid by check prior to processing your data request.
