Personal Responsibility Education Program (PREP)

Oregon Personal Responsibility Education Program (PREP)

The Oregon Personal Responsibility Education Program (PREP) is funded by the Administration for Families and Children (ACF), Administration on Children, Youth and Families (ACYF) and Family Youth Services Bureau (FYSB) to support evidence-based sexual health education.

The purpose of PREP is to support the health and well-being of youth by increasing access to age-appropriate, culturally inclusive, and medically accurate sex education. Through training and technical assistance, PREP prepares teachers and other youth-serving professionals to implement high quality evidence-based sexual health curricula for youth ages 10-19.

PREP programming focuses on youth who may be impacted by sexual heath inequities, including youth in foster care, youth experiencing homelessness, pregnant or parenting youth, BIPOC youth, and youth who live in rural areas.

Oregon Friendships and Dating Program

Beginning in 2020, PREP is partnering with the University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities (UCEDD) at the Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) to provide training and support to Oregon high school transition programs to teach skills that will promote sexual health and healthy relationships.

The Friendships & Dating Program (F&D), developed by the University of Alaska Anchorage UCEDD, is an evidence-based, comprehensive approach to teach individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities the skills needed to develop healthy relationships and prevent interpersonal violence.
