Community Services Block Grant (CSBG)

The CSBG program is a federal anti-poverty program. The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services administers the program. CSBG funds provide assistance to local communities. The program works through a network of community action agencies. It also works with other neighborhood organizations. These agencies use CSBG funds to:
  • Reduce poverty
  • Revitalization low-income communities
  • Empower low-income families and individuals to become fully self-sufficient.
The CSBG Program funds a part of administrative and program activities of Community Action Agencies. These organizations typically coordinate and administer a variety of services. These services assist low-income Oregonians within their own communities. CSBG funds are available to both rural and urban areas of Oregon. CAAs serve as key partners to Oregon Housing and Community Services.
