The Teacher Standards and Practices Commission (TSPC) is committed to help slow the spread of COVID-19 and promote the wellbeing of Oregon’s educators, agency employees, and the public. To this end, TSPC will focus its customer service efforts through virtual correspondence. Beginning Tuesday, March 24, the TSPC office will be closed to the public, and staff will be unable to answer phone calls. Most licensing transactions can be completed through the TSPC Online Licensing Application System. Important Notice to Oregon's Licensed Educators

PDU reduction due to COVID-19

In March of 2020, and again in September of 2020, the Commission responded to Governor Brown's Executive Order regarding the COVID-19 pandemic. The document below addresses part of the guidance, designed to give relief for licensed educators requiring PDUs to renew a license. The tables in this document describe temporary changes to numbers of PDUs required to renew and reinstate licenses.

Flexibility with Fidelity: Classroom Teaching Assignments

During the month of July, Dr. Rosilez met with multiple stakeholders expressing concern about the reopening of schools and how to best serve Oregon’s students. Those meetings resulted in a Commission temporary rule and resolution for adopting that rule to guide districts in “misassigning” teachers in certain circumstances. This flexibility is in no way permission to assign any teacher to any classroom. Schools and districts must carefully consider the information in these documents, and report these misassignments to TSPC ( on the provided spreadsheet template by October 31.
