What is a Renewal?
Renewing a license means you are requesting to hold the same license you currently hold. Not all licenses are "renewable".
Renewal Requirements by License Type rev 2-7-2025
License Renewal Updates 2/7/2025
During their February 2025 meeting, the Commission agreed to reinstate the requirement to report evidence of Professional Development earned for licensees expiring on or after July 1, 2029.
The Commission, the public, and Oregon's students maintain high standards for licensed educator's professional learning. The intent of the suspension placed the responsibility for an educator's preparedness on the employing school, school district or educational service district. Setting a date in the future to require the reporting of PDUs allows time for licensees to seek and complete relevant professional development opportunities to meet the requirement within the timeline.
