The Oregon Department of Agriculture (ODA) Metrology Laboratory maintains the reference and working standards of mass and volume for the State of Oregon. The Oregon standards are traceable to the International System of Units (SI) through intercomparisons of standards that are traceable to the standards maintained at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). The standards at NIST are traceable to the International Prototype Kilogram, which is kept at the International Bureau of Weights and Measures (BIPM) in France.

The Weights and Measures Metrology Laboratory is responsible for the calibration of the equipment used by the Weights and Measures compliance specialists in their testing of commercial measuring devices used in the state of Oregon.

The Weights and Measures Metrology Laboratory also offers precision measurement and calibration services, for a fee, to customers in the areas of mass and volume.
