Welcome! The Oregon Immunization Program has created this toolkit to encourage every member of clinic staffs to become a maternal vaccine champion. Mothers are more likely to get vaccinated when it’s recommended to them by each staff person they encounter. Giving moms recommended immunizations during pregnancy is the best way protect newborns against whooping cough and flu, diseases that can be a serious threat to young infants.
We believe that you can play an important role in ensuring healthy moms and healthy babies! This maternal immunization toolkit provides resources that will transform you into a vaccine champion.
The toolkit includes a video addressing why prenatal vaccines are integral in protecting expectant mothers and their babies, strategies to increase prenatal vaccination rates, and tips on how to encourage moms to get vaccinated. Also included are printable resources such as a model standing order specific to pregnant women, a referral slip template, vaccine storage and handling resource guides, and a helpful resources document.
If you have used the Toolkit, please take a few minutes to tell us what you think. The survey should take 5-7 minutes to complete. Your thoughtful feedback will be used to measure how effective the material is and whether provider support staff feel equipped to recommend prenatal vaccines to their patients. Please answer the survey as fully and accurately as possible and be assured that all information will be kept confidential.
The Oregon Health Authority has immunization rates by county for women in Oregon who delivered their babies in 2017.
