It is more important than ever to be aware of the resources available to assist you in managing stress, mental health and overall wellbeing. During this presentation, we will take a virtual tour of the various trainings, tools, organizations and services you can access to help support you as a whole person as well as an employee.

​Participants will engage in an interactive session focused on managing challenging interviews with a case or contact who may be emotionally heightened. Facilitators will model skills such as listening with empathy, being nonjudgmental, and focusing on the person's feelings, not just the facts. Participants will then role play to practice their own interview skills.

Participants will have a better understanding of how to eliminate the potential harm and support your team to overcome difficulties by unexpected threats. This workshop will improve your skills on how to lead through challenging times while applying balance and protecting others.

This session touches on key points of accessing and using interpreter services to support providing effective and understandable services.

​A training opportunity for contact tracers and case investigators to develop their communication skills. Motivational Interviewing engages people with acceptance and equality, elicits and reflects experience, and attends to the language of change, to empower and support goal-driven behavior. This workshop is an opportunity to practice Motivational Interviewing in real conversations. A short presentation will be followed by demonstrations and role-play.

​Participants will engage in a dynamic session to have a better understanding of the factors that cause compassion fatigue whether you are experiencing emotional burnout or want to avoid it. This workshop will provide you the tools to become resilient in the face of intense demands and ways to care for ourselves and support others.

​This training provides condensed content as a refresher for community-based organization staff and others who previously trained in COVID-19 Contact Tracing. This review includes contact tracing essentials, updates, and the ARIAS data system. As a ZoomGov remote training, the format will be lecture, question and answer, and interactive breakout rooms.

​Asking REALD Questions

This workshop will help participants better understand the importance of collecting quality race, ethnicity, language and disability data to support reducing health disparities and increasing accessibility to health resources for all people in Oregon. During this session facilitators will explore best practices and challenges in asking these important demographic questions and participants will have opportunities for discussion and practice.

Training resources:

Recognizing and understanding racial and ethnic diversity in the population living in Oregon, as well as diversity in spoken languages, disabilities, gender identity and sexual orientation, is important to bridging our communities. We can best respond through practicing cultural responsiveness.

Join us as we explore the perspective of others as well as our own in understanding cultural biases.

This training provides an overview of how Public Health is structured and operationalized throughout Oregon. You will also hear about some of the key initiatives to help eliminate health disparities amongst people living in Oregon.

​This training concentrates on knowledge and skills used by both Case Investigators and Contact Tracers in responding to cases of COVID-19 in Oregon. Specific content for Contact Tracing and for Case Investigation continue in separate trainings.

Compassionate Conversations Series

This new learning series was designed to help CST staff tap into and hone their skills around navigating some of the difficult conversations that may arise when taking calls from the COVID-19 Hotline or in other areas of your work.

Topic #1 - Emotional Intelligence

Why is emotional intelligence important at work? What are the components of emotional intelligence and how does one improve one's emotional intelligence? Learn about emotional intelligence and how to effectively use this to ground oneself in the workplace.

What does service excellence mean in times of uncertainty? How can one continue to offer good customer service? Learn how to strengthen the quality of our calls in an ongoing changing environment.
