Community Violence Prevention

About HB 4045

Oregon House Bill 4045 defined community violence as an intentional act of interpersonal violence committed in public by someone who is not the victim’s family member or intimate partner. The Oregon Health Authority’s Injury & Violence Prevention and Medicaid Programs are supporting development of sustainable programs to help communities break the cycle of community violence.

***NEW: Funding Opportunity***

With funding allocated by 2022 Oregon House Bill 4045, the Oregon Health Authority will  release a new grant opportunity to support development of hospital-based violence intervention programs. Hospitals and community-based, non-profit organizations in Oregon that serve people outside Multnomah County can request funding to participate in the Hospital-Based Violence Intervention Program (HVIP) Expansion-Learning Community.

Once released, the grant application will be posted in OregonBuys, the state's web-based eProcurement system: https://oregonbuys.gov/bso/. The website will be updated when the grant opportunity becomes available. In advance of the grant release, please contact Molly Taylor at molly.taylor@oha.oregon.gov with any funding-related questions.
