THW Commission

The THW Commission advises and makes recommendations to the Oregon Health Authority to ensure the program is responsive to consumer and community health needs, while delivering high-quality and culturally competent care. 
The THW Commission consists of 24 members appointed by the Director of Equity and Inclusion Division.

THW Subcommittees

THW Subcommittee activities consist of directing the ongoing body of work as assigned by the THW Commission and the Oregon Health Authority. Subcommittee members are compromised of Traditional Health Workers, subject matter experts, community advocates, and partners. Every subcommittee consists of 12 subcommittee members. Subcommittee members are not required to be THW Commission members. 


Systems Integration (SI)

The SI subcommittee is responsible for integrating the THW workforce into the health care system by analyzing opportunities and barriers to employment and creating a strategic plan to improve health equity to underserved populations. Strategies may include outreach, training, and education of CCOs and other Community-Based Organizations, monitoring and reporting on employment standards such as wages, benefits, and scope of work.

Payment Models (PM)

The PM subcommittee is responsible for researching and looking into different forms of viable payment models for THWs. in accordance with Chapter 410 rules.

Training Evaluation Metrics and Program Scoring (TEMPS)

The TEMPS subcommittee develops the metrics, standards & guidance needed to review and approve THW training program applications from organizations interested in offering approved THW foundational training programs and continuing education requirements for all traditional health workers who wish to qualify for (re)-certification by the Oregon Health Authority.
