WIC assures healthy pregnancies, healthy birth outcomes and healthy growth and development for adults, infants and children up to age five who are at nutrition risk. WIC provides nutritious foods to supplement diets, information and education on healthy eating, and referrals to health care and critical social services. WIC provides breastfeeding support and education to participants, and plays a critical role in public health modernization.

Breastfeeding 

2022 Oregon WIC Breastfeeding Data [PDF] - Oregon WIC promotes breastfeeding as the biological standard for infant and young child feeding. WIC has taken multiple policy steps to align daily clinic operations and implement evidence-based strategies to protect and support breastfeeding. At 94%, Oregon WIC's breastfeeding initiation rate is one of the highest in the nation.
