Safety and Mobility Policy Advisory Committee (SMPAC)

Overview

Stakeholder involvement in project development and implementation is an important part of ODOT’s commitment to provide a safe and reliable multimodal transportation system that connects people and helps Oregon's communities and economy thrive.

In 2019, acting through the Highway Division Administrator and the Commerce and Compliance Division Administrator, ODOT convened the Safety and Mobility Policy Advisory Committee (SMPAC) to bring system users into the high-level policy development process, knowing that better business results from better policy.

The Committee represents the evolution of safety and mobility policy for ODOT. Specifically, this committee builds upon the previous efforts of the Work Zone Executive Strategy Sessions Committee (WZESSC) and provides policy oversight for the Oregon Mobility Advisory Committee (MAC).

The purpose of SMPAC is to advise ODOT's decision-making through collaboration amongst diverse stakeholders united to enhance highway safety policy and mobility policy.
