Innovator Agents

Advancing Health Equity and Health System Transformation

Senate Bill 1580 (2012) approved Oregon's coordinated care model. Section 14 of the bill created the innovator agent role. Innovator agents have supported Oregon's coordinated care organizations (CCOs) from the beginning.

Today, innovator agents work with CCOs, providers, community partners, members and across the Oregon Health Authority (OHA). These collaborations advance:

  • The coordinated care model;
  • Learning and improvement strategies for CCOs and communities.
  • Communication between OHA and the CCOs.
  • Oregon Health Plan member experience.
  • Community health and health equity.

Innovator Agent Assignments

Many innovator agents have been working with CCOs since they began in 2012. Each innovator agent offers the unique perspectives of their community. They do this in many ways to support CCOs and health system transformation:

  • They engage their CCOs, CCO Community Advisory Councils and CCO Governing Boards.
  • They can share how policies and programs affect the regions they serve.
  • They listen to the needs of their local communities and work to find solutions.
