Oregon Presumptive Medical Eligibility

What is Presumptive Medical Eligibility?

The Affordable Care Act allows states to qualify certain entities to determine “presumed” (or “likely”) eligibility for some Oregon Health Plan (OHP) programs based on a quick screening of primary eligibility factors.

OHP coverage approved through Presumptive Eligibility is temporary. Approved applicants must complete a full application if they want benefits to continue beyond the temporary period. For eligible individuals, the Presumptive Eligibility process can sometimes allow coverage to start more quickly than waiting for a full application to be processed.
