​Six Weeks to Better Health

Join a small group of people like you living with a chronic condition in a completely internet-based workshop designed by researchers at Stanford University to help you live healthier.

Visit Better Choices, Better Health to check your eligibility.

Better Choices, Better Health is an internet-based workshop that will teach you to build confidence and self-management skills through action planning, sharing experiences, and mutual support in just one hour a week over the course of six weeks.​

Oregon State University’s EAP is - Beyond Benefits​!

It is positioned as a life event resource that seeks to provide impactful, holistic solutions at the right time.  Employees can access specific resources for family needs, financial needs, legal concerns and mental/emotional support needs.  

Employees can connect with a Beyond Benefits consultant through phone, e-mail, chat or text.  The Beyond Benefits consultant will help them address whatever life event or challenge they are facing. They will create a personalized and actionable plan with employees.  

Beyond Benefits EAP has desktop, tablet and mobile platforms.  They also have extensive online resources including online communities and on-demand learning programs.  This confidential, no cost resource is available to OSU employees and their household members.

Using tobacco costs you more than just what you pay at the counter.

PEBB members who use tobacco have $25 deducted monthly from their pay to offset the known risks for health care costs they bring to their health plan. You can end the deduction after you quit by filling out a Mid-year Change form

Members who use tobacco also have higher rates for optional life insurance. They can get the lower non-tobacco rate when they don't use tobacco for 12 months prior to the next Open Enrollment.

Members in PEBB Statewide, Providence Choice, or Moda plans:

Call Quit for Life at 1-866-QUIT-4-LIFE (1-866-784-8454). There is also a chat feature.

Members in a Kaiser Permanente plan:

Call the "Talk With a Health Coach" service at 503-286-6816 or 1-866-301-3866 (toll free) and select option 2.

Support

Your PEBB benefits give you comprehensive support to quit through no-cost access to:

  • Consultations with a trained Quit Coach who knows how tough it can be to quit and ways you can stay or get back on track.
  • Materials to help you plan and stick to a personalized quit program
  • Nicotine replacement therapy
  • Coverage of certain prescribed medications to help you quit

Many have been able to quit on their own, but the chances of being successful are eight times greater with support.

The name WW is becoming the world’s partner in wellness. WW welcomes anyone who wants to build healthy habits — whether that means eating better, moving more, developing a positive mindset, focusing on weight or all of the above!

It all begins January 2020!
  • All members, spouses/domestic partners or dependents enrolled in a PEBB medical plan ages 18 and up can sign up for WW at no cost.
  • Dependents ages 10-17 who are enrolled in a PEBB medical plan are eligible to participate in Kurbo by WW at no cost.

  • Kaiser Permanente – With Kaiser Permanente, getting care when and where you need it is easier than ever. In addition to seeing providers in a medical office or clinic, members can access many other convenient care options. 
  • Moda – Moda members can access eDoc by logging into their MyModa account at www.modahealth.com/pebb/
    • eDoc allows members to send secure email questions to medical providers and receive a response within 24 hours. 
    • Members can also access the Nurse Advice Line by calling 866-321-7580.
  • Providence Choice and PEBB StatewideExpress Care Virtual! Our licensed and board-certified providers are here to see you from 8 a.m. to midnight. No appointment needed!
    • PEBB members receive a diagnosis and treatment plan, even a prescription or doctor’s note if you need one all at no cost to the member. 
    • Just go to Express Care Virtual​ to get started.

Diabetes Prevention Programs

Lifestyle training that teaches participants how to incorporating physical activity into daily life and eating healthy. Work with a trained health coach to make changes and become more physically active, reduce stress, lose weight and live a healthier life.

National Diabetes prevention program​

Focusing on healthy eating, regular activity and weight loss. Over a year, people in this program have greatly reduced their risk of going from pre-diabetes to type 2 diabetes.

YMCA Diabetes prevention program

Learn more about the ​programs from YMCA.

The goal of the YMCA's Diabetes Prevention Program is to improve overall health and to help those with prediabetes understand the risks and options to learn new behaviors that last a lifetime.

Programs like the YMCA's Diabetes Prevention Program have been shown to reduce the number of new cases of type 2 diabetes by 58 percent in adults and as much as 71 percent in those over the age of 60.
