Any community may choose to plan for an SBHC. The SBHC State Program Office (SPO) sometimes has state planning grants available to support the planning and implementation of a new SBHC, however at this time no planning grant funding is available. Please check out the funding tab for possible state planning grant opportunities.
We encourage any community interested in developing and opening a SBHC to review the following documents:
This information will help smooth your planning process and ensure your SBHC will be prepared to meet the SPO Standards for Certification. Once opened, an SBHC may request to be certified by the SBHC State Program Office (SPO). Please visit the certification standards tab for information about the SBHC certification process.
