Sign Language Interpreter Medical Applications are no longer available effective January 1, 2026
Effective January 1, 2026, the Board of Sign Language Interpreters (SLI) will no longer be accepting SLI medical applications, issuing SLI medical licenses, or renewing SLI medical licenses. During the 2025 Legislative Session,
SB 950 (2025) was passed and signed into law by the Governor on May 28, 2025. The new law repeals the SLI medical license, effective January 1, 2026.
Any SLI medical license issued between June 8, 2024, and December 31, 2025, will be valid through January 1, 2029. All such licenses will be converted to a three-year license, which will expire on January 1, 2029, and will not be renewed.
