How cost sharing works

PEBB does not decide how much you pay for your benefits.

Your employer or union determines your share of the monthly premium. PEBB provides rates and information to help you estimate your monthly costs.

You and your employer share the cost of your benefits:

  • You pay part of the monthly premium.
  • Your employer pays the rest.

The percentage you pay for your medical plan also applies to:

  • Dental
  • Vision
  • Basic life insurance

Medical plan costs

Your monthly cost depends on the medical plan you choose.

Plans with higher monthly costs:

  • Kaiser Traditional (full-time and part-time)
  • Providence Statewide PPO (full-time and part-time)

Plans with lower monthly costs:

  • Kaiser Deductible
  • Moda 360
  • Providence Choice

At least one higher-cost plan and one lower-cost plan are available in every Oregon county.

Executive Branch employee examples

These examples apply to Executive Branch employees. Your costs may be different if you work for another employer.

Full-time employees

If you enroll in:

  • Kaiser Traditional or Providence Statewide PPO, you pay 5% of the total premium.
  • Any other full-time medical plan, you pay 1% of the total premium.

Part-time employees

Part-time employees can enroll in either full-time or part-time plans.

If you enroll in:

  • Kaiser Traditional or Providence Statewide PPO, you pay 5% of the total premium.
  • Any other medical plan, you pay 1% of the total premium.

You also pay any remaining premium after your employer's contribution, which is based on the hours you work each month.

If you enroll in a part-time medical plan, you also receive a flat employer subsidy.
