March 2023: SBHC Youth Listening Sessions 

The Oregon Health Authority's School-Based Health Center (SBHC) Program will be holding a few listening sessions in March 2023 with youth across Oregon. We'll be talking about SBHCs and youth experiences and needs around accessing health services, including mental health, reproductive health, and confidentiality.

The listening session conversation will last about 1 hour and 30 minutes and be held over Zoom. Participants will receive a $50 Amazon gift card.

Marzo 2023: Sesiones para Escuchar a la Juventud sobre los Centros de Salud con Base en la Escuela

El Oregon Health Authority School-Based Health Center (SBHC) Program, Programa de Centros de Salud con Base en la Escuela de la Autoridad en la Salud de Oregón, estará llevando a cabo sesiones de escucha con jóvenes, Youth Listening Session, en el Marzo del 2023 por todo Oregón. Estaremos hablando acerca de los SBHCs y las experiencias de los jóvenes en acceder a los servicios de salud, incluyendo la salud mental, la salud reproductiva y la confidencialidad.

Information for SBHC Coordinators and Partners

Please help us share listening session information for youth by posting flyers in your SBHCs and around your school campus. Please also share with any student groups or partners at your SBHC host school. If you have social media accounts, please share about this opportunity using our social media card. Both Spanish and English versions of the flyer and social media card are available.

August 2021: Youth-Led Project Grants Announced

The State Program Office (SPO) is pleased to announce the recipients of the 2021-2023 Mental Health Expansion Grant - Youth-Led Projects! This biennium the SPO will award a total of $700,000 to fund Youth-Led Projects in 25 SBHCs across 7 counties to reduce mental health stigma, promote SBHC access, encourage student resiliency at SBHC host schools, and engage youth in leadership roles in their communities.

2021-2023 Youth-Led Project Grantees

All grantees will complete a mental health specific project and a project connected to the SBHC. Projects are youth-led so the specifics of what youth will be working on will continue to unfold throughout the biennium, but project proposals include:

  • Youth-Driven Research Projects
  • Health Curriculum Development
  • Hiring Youth-Liaisons
  • Youth Action / Advisory Councils
  • Hosting Health and Wellness Fairs, Cultural Events, and Youth Summits
  • Media Projects and Educational Campaigns Including Podcasts and Social Media
  • Social Events
