ADA Curb Ramp Inspector Certification

What does this course cover?

The ADA Curb Ramp Inspector and Contractor certification curriculum provides guidance on the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) as it relates to Oregon Department of Transportation facilities. The online self-guided training course will cover the use of ADA curb ramp inspection forms, the use of tools, best inspection practice and measurement guidance. It will also give instruction for how to submit forms and where to send them.

Learners must complete the following steps in order to qualify for a 2-year certification. (PLEASE NOTE: The 2022 online training and exam will be offline for the month of December due to updates and maintenance with the 2023 materials activated in January. The Field Exam will not be offered during November-January and made available again in late February 2023.)

  • Step 1 - ADA Curb Ramp Inspection Training for Certification (online)
    (8 hours)
  • Step 2 - ADA Curb Ramp Inspection Training Exam for Certification (online)
    (90 minutes)
  • Step 3 - ADA Curb Ramp Inspection Field Exam for Certification (in-person)
    (3-5 hours)

This certification is required for anyone who would like to become certified as a Certified ADA Inspector or Certified ADA Contractor.

How long is certification valid?

Completion of all three parts of the ADA Curb Ramp Inspection courses will qualify as a 2-year certification.

What do you need for the ADA Online Exam?

You will need to refer to the following documents during the exam. Make sure to have reviewed each document and have them easily accessible prior to starting the exam.

What do you need for the ADA Curb Ramp Field Exam?

  • 2-foot levels (1 Gen 2 or Gen 3 SmartTool)
  • 6-inch levels (1)
  • Plumb bobs – (1)
  • Engineering Measuring tape, tenth of foot ((1)
  • Orange vests or Rain Coat (ANSI 3) (1)
  • High visibility hat (yellow, orange, red) or hard hat (1)
  • Pencils and pens, Clip board
  • Curb Ramp cleaning tools
  • Lunch (30 minutes will be provided halfway through day
