Upcoming HLO Closures Due to State Holidays

Mark your calendar and note that the Health Licensing Office (and all State of Oregon agencies) will be closed on the following day:

  • Monday, May 30, 2022, for Memorial Day

Changes to Continuing Education Rules When COVID-19 State of Emergency is Lifted

In the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Health Licensing Office suspended continuing education rules that required in-person education and put in place Oregon Administrative Rule (OAR) 331-030-0036, which outlined remote continuing education through online courses, remote access, webinars or self-study. When the Governor lifts the state of emergency on April 1, 2022, the suspended rules reactivate, but OAR 331-030-0036 will allow authorization holders (licensees, certification or registration holders) to keep obtaining remote CE for 60 days after that date, until May 31, 2022.

Seeking Licensed Direct Entry Midwives to Serve as Subject Matter Experts

The Health Licensing Office (HLO) is seeking licensed direct entry midwives to serve as subject matter experts (SMEs) for complaint investigations. A SME is an independent contractor who assists in investigations of and cases against Oregon direct entry midwives. SMEs may be called upon to assist the HLO in various ways, such as: working with a HLO investigator when investigating licensees, providing opinions about community standards, and competently testifying during hearings.
