All DEQ offices and vehicle emission testing stations will be closed Saturday, July 2, through Monday, July 4, 2022 in observance of the Independence Day holiday.
The Scappoose testing station will be open an extra day on Thursday, June 30, from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. All DEQ offices and stations will resume their regular operating hours on Tuesday, July 5, 2022.

Fees and forms of payment
Vehicle Testing Fee:
- In the Portland Area, the vehicle testing fee is $25. This fee is due only after your vehicle receives a passing test result, and is issued a Certificate of Compliance.
- There is no charge if your vehicle fails.
- Payment options include Cash, PIN-less Debit/Credit card (VISA, MasterCard or Discover) or money order.
Vehicle Registration Fees:
Although the Vehicle Inspection Program is authorized to collect vehicle registration fees as part of registration renewals, these fees are separate from vehicle testing fees. These State (DMV) and County fees, which are subject to change, are linked below.

Be sure to bring:
Your entire DMV registration renewal form with sections 1 (insurance information) and 2 (signature of owner) completed to receive renewal tags.
DEQ accepts Cash, PIN-less Debit/Credit card (VISA, MasterCard or Discover) or money order to pay for the emissions test AND your DMV registration fees.
A few things to remember:
BE AWARE: Pets are not allowed in inspection stations – for the safety of staff, the public, and our furry friends (service animals are allowed).
No smoking or tobacco use on State of Oregon property
Please turn off cell phones in the testing lane
Excessively smoking vehicles will not be tested
Make sure your vehicle is in good working condition
Vehicles that pose a safety hazard will not be tested
Trailers, towed vehicles or other mobile equipment must be disconnected from the vehicle prior to testing
Motorcycles, off-road vehicles, trailers and any other vehicle not required to have an emissions test must have VIN inspections performed at the DMV
