Strengthening Oregon’s Education Accountability System
The 2025 Education Accountability Act (SB 141) builds a stronger, more transparent accountability framework across Oregon’s K-12 schools. It ensures shared responsibility among the Oregon Department of Education, the Legislature, Education Service Districts, Tribes, school districts, and community partners.
What SB 141 Delivers
- Evidence-based tracking of student outcomes
- Meaningful improvement goals for districts starting in 2026-27
- Clearer authority for ODE to monitor progress, reinforce success, and provide support where needed
- Reduced administrative barriers so educators can focus on teaching and learning
Accountability isn’t just about measuring results—it’s about keeping our promise to students, celebrating progress, and acting decisively when we fall short. SB 141 ensures Oregon’s education system is cohesive, transparent, and focused on student success.
