Materials about federal changes to SNAP

Use these materials to support people who are impacted by recent federal changes to SNAP. 

​H.R. 1 Changes to SNAP: A Guide for Partne​rs

This gu​ide helps ODHS ​partners support people affected by federal SNAP changes. Use it to answer questions and connect people with food resources and other support. ​It explains:

  • What has changed
  • Who may be affected
  • Steps people can take to keep benefits they qualify for

Federal changes to SNAP work or activity rules

These resources are designed to help people who receive SNAP understand federal SNAP work or activity rules, exemptions and steps they can take to keep or regain benefits.​

  • ODHS partnered with national non-profit Social Finance through a project with the American Public Human Services Association (APHSA) to create these materials. The project is supporting states in developing practical too​ls to help implement federal changes under H.R. 1.
  • ​Materials include: one-pagers for specific populations, a resource on regaining benefits, a trifold brochure and a wallet card.
  • All materials are currently in an evaluation phase. Final versions, including materials in additional languages, will be released later this fall.

If your organization has meaningful volunteer opportunities, you may be able to become a SNAP Workfare site. 

SNAP Workfare connects organizations with volunteers who can help with daily tasks and community projects. In return, volunteers gain work experience and can meet the rules to keep their SNAP food benefits.

Use the Oregon Eligibility (ONE) Toolkit to let people know they can apply for medical, food, cash and child care benefits in one place. ​​They can apply for and manage their benefits online, by phone or in person at a local ​office. 

  • The toolkit has many resources in multiple languages.
