The state Vital Records office issues a summary document called a divorce certificate. Divorce decrees, both certified and uncertified, are available from the county court that granted the divorce. A divorce certificate does not have all the information contained in the decree but may be used as proof of divorce. In some cases, courts approve divorce orders but the certificates are not completed or filed. If you order a missing divorce certificate, issuance will be delayed until court staff create the certificate and file it.
