Overview

Below are various resources that may be helpful in navigating Broadband Connectivity and/or Educational Technology questions. Please note that there are inclusions of external websites. These external links do not imply endorsement of the reliability of the information presented and also may not meet the same level of accessibility as ODE ensures on it’s own pages.

Resources to support learners, educators, and your community beyond the E-Rate program and/or Connecting Oregon Schools Fund (COSF):​

Affordable Connectivity Program

“An FCC benefit program that helps ensure households can afford the broadband they need for work, school, healthcare and more. The benefit provides a discount of up to $30 per month toward internet service for eligible households and up to $75 per month for households on qualifying Tribal lands.” Source: Affordable Connectivity Program

The following are known reliable mapping programs:

Oregon Broadband Office

Oregon Broadband Office’s (OBO) promotes access to broadband services for all Oregonians. Their website will have the most current information surrounding state infrastructure funding, infrastructure projects, and state digital equity planning.

U.S. Department of Education’s Office of Educational Technology

Broadband and EdTech resource page, with the most current information regarding federal connectivity initiatives, connectivity publications, and digital equity resources.

The Connecting Oregon Schools Fund (COSF) is an E-Rate state match funding program for special construction (broadband infrastructure) projects.

Cybersecurity & Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA)

The Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) is an operational component of the Department of Homeland Security. They work with partners to prepare for, respond to, and mitigate the impact of cyberattacks. They offer an array of free resources and tools, such as technical assistance, exercises, cybersecurity assessments, free training, and more.​​

ODE Procurement Information

ODE utilizes the State’s official eProcurement website, OregonBuys, for contracting opportunities. Additional ODE Procurement information can be found on the ODE Procurement Services Page.

ODE Consortium Procurement Applications

Our Broadband Connectivity team is frequently asked if we host a consortium application for broadband related goods and services and or technology devices. The answer is, no, ODE does not. Schools are locally governed and follow their local procurement rules to obtain those goods and services. If a statewide price agreement or contract were to go into place, information would be updated on our ODE Broadband Connectivity page and announced in our Newsletter.

Organization for Educational Technology and Curriculum (OETC)

OETC is a nonprofit consortium of schools, universities and libraries united under the common belief that everyone should have access to the tools for great education. OETC is an opportunity to participate in a consortium to obtain education pricing and competitively bid contracts for educational technology products.

ODE Digital Learning Team

ODE’s team focused on providing education technology, digital instruction materials, and digital pedagogy and school design resources to reduce existing digital inequity and increase learning and belonging.

ODE Information Technology

ODE’s IT team provides support through a variety of applications and data collections as well as desktop and network support services to staff at the Public Service Building and to Oregon School for the Deaf.

Online and Remote Learning

Most current information regarding ODE’s work to ensure high-quality, equitable opportunities and outcomes for students in remote learning models throughout Oregon.

Well Rounded Access Program

Supports districts across the state, by providing students with access to high quality courses in the arts and more fully realized STEAM education. Course options will be accessible to students through a combination of in-person, online, and distance learning formats.

Federal E-Rate Program

The Universal Service Administrative Company (USAC) is an independent, not-for-profit corporation that collects universal service contributions from telecommunications carriers and administers universal support programs. One such program is the schools and libraries universal support program, known as E-Rate which helps schools and libraries obtain affordable broadband. The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) provides oversight for USAC’s administration of the E-Rate program.

Association for Computer Processionals in Education (ACPEnw)

A Pacific Northwest nonprofit association that increases collaboration and professional development opportunities within the K-12 education technology community. ACPEnw is dedicated to the support of organizational leadership as well as administrative, information, and instructional technologies.

Consortium for School Networking (CoSN)

A consortium that focuses on being a voice for K-12 education leaders who use technology strategically to improve teaching and learning. CoSN provides products and services to support leadership development, advocacy, coalition building, and awareness of emerging technologies.

International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE)

A nonprofit membership organization that is a trusted source for professional development, knowledge generation, advocacy, and leadership for innovation. ISTE provides leadership and services to improve teaching, learning, and school leadership by advancing the effective use of technology in PK – 12 and teacher education.

Link Oregon

An Oregon nonprofit organization that seeks to enhance research, education, healthcare, and access to public services and information across the state by supporting K-12 and other public and non-profit organizations state-wide.

Northwest Council for Computer Education (NCCE)

A nonprofit organization that serves educational institutions across the globe in providing professional learning opportunities throughout the year as well as hosting the largest educational technology conference in the Pacific Northwest.

State Educational Technology Directors Association (SETDA)

A nonprofit membership association that represents U.S. state and territorial educational technology and digital learning leaders. Through programs and advocacy, they empower the education community in leveraging technology for learning, teaching, and school operations.

Schools, Health, & Libraries Broadband Coalition (SHLB)

A nonprofit membership advocacy organization based in Washington, D.C. They strive to close the digital divide by promoting high-quality broadband for anchor institutions and their communities.
