Summer meals

Summer Food Service Program

The Summer Food Service Program also know as "Summer Meals" is available in hundreds of communities throughout Oregon, offering free meals and snacks to ALL kids 1-18. Community summer meal programs are open to all families without paperwork, income verification, and regardless of immigration status. To receive a meal, kids can just drop in during a site's designated meal times. Many programs also offer fun activities so kids can stay active and keep learning.


Summer Meals and COVID-19

Meals are still being served throughout Oregon, with social distancing rules in place. The way that meals are delivered can vary by school district or organization, including:

lunch bagGrab and Go: Picking up a meal "grab and go" style directly from a meal site.

truckHome Delivery: Delivery directly to participants homes.

bus Bus Routes: Delivery by previous school bus routes to bus routes.

adult Parent/Guardian Pick-Up: Allowing a parent/guardian to pick up a child's meal without requiring the child to be present.


Please note that these methods for serving meals are not universal, it will vary by district and organization. The best way to find out your local information is to check with your school district or participating organizations to see how they are serving meals.
