Informatics

261rss1e.pngInformatics is the science of collecting, organizing, storing and using electronic information received from a variety of different places.  Laboratories, hospitals, physicians offices, and urgent cares all send data in a variety of different formats over to OHA.  It's the Informatics Team who take all that data and make it into easy-to-understand information.  It's an approach to data management that puts accessibility, speed, and security at the forefront of its goals.  

If you ever thought to yourself "how can we use technology to improve our healthcare systems, make information more easily accessible to the people who need it, and less accessible to everyone who doesn't need it?"  Well then you, my friend, are on the front line of Informatics.

While the ACDP Informatics Team is revamping our website, we want to make sure you have access to some of the projects and activities we are involved in.

  • Informatics 101 (pdf) - Post-conference Workshop presentation at 2025 Oregon Epidemiologists Meeting
  • Data Modernization Initiative (DMI) "Stories from the Field" - success stories submitted to the Council of State and Territorial Epidemiologists (CSTE) from various Oregon initiatives that describe how we are modernizing our data, information systems, and workforce.
  • Dashboard and Report Development Guide (pdf) - a template outlining recommended considerations when planning, developing, and sharing dashboards and reports using various visualization and analysis tools.


Data In

Electronic Laboratory Reporting (ELR)

Automated, electronic laboratory reporting for reportable acute and communicable diseases; required for licensed laboratories that send an average of more than 30 records per month to public health.

Electronic Case Reporting (eCR)

Reportable condition case reports created and generated from a healthcare provider or health system’s electronic health record (EHR) system to public health.

Confidential Oregon Morbidity Report Portal

An alternate option for health care providers to manually report reportable acute and communicable diseases using a secure website.
