Introduction

The Oregon Department of Education oversees a number of learning options. The following links provide more information on some of the most popular topics. You can also use the search function to find out about topics that may not be presented here.


Accelerated Learning Programs
Oregon’s high school students have the opportunity to earn college credit through a variety of accelerated learning programs.

Alternative Education
A variety of private and public alternative schools and programs are evolving to support Oregon's commitment to help students achieve high academic and career-related standards and to pursue their individual goals and interests.

Career and Technical Education (CTE)
Helps students gain skills, technical knowledge, academic foundation and real-world experience.

Charter Schools
A charter school in Oregon is a public school operated by a group of parents, teachers and/or community members as a semi-autonomous school of choice within a school district.

Recovery Schools
Oregon Recovery Schools are small public high schools serving students in grades 9-12. These schools, under an agreement with the Department of Education, will provide students with a specialized school education experience, tailored to meet the needs of students in recovery from substance use disorder and co-occurring behavioral health challenges. The purpose of a recovery high school is to deliver high-quality education that leads to an Oregon high school diploma, while supporting students in recovery from substance use and co-occurring behavioral health challenges through mental health and SUD support in a safe, supportive environment to maintain abstinence and live a life in recovery.

Remote Learning

Talented and Gifted Student Resources
