How to File an Appeal

To file an appeal, send your appeal in writing, via certified mail and email, to the Fair Dismissal Appeals Board. Your appeal must include a brief statement giving the reasons for the appeal.

Timelines for filing an appeal are set out in ORS 342.905(1). The appeal must be filed:

  • In case of dismissal, within 10 days, as provided in ORS 174.120, after receipt of notice of the district school board's decision.
  • In the case of a contract non-extension, within 15 days, as provided in ORS 174.120, after receipt of the written notice of non-extension of a contract
